Payroll Over Payments are inevitable in the University environment. Managing the receivables, working the collections, interfacing with employees (current and former) all provide challenges for a department that is designed to pay people, not collect from people. This session will review how the UNC Charlotte reworked it's process and procedures to include the strengths of our student receivables department in our process, ensuring compliance with collection regulations while still involving the Payroll Department in the initial and ongoing process. We will also review how we collaborated with the Academic Departments to reduce the number of over payments. Lastly, we will review the payroll adjustment process and its impact on taxes and regulatory reporting.
